Energy Medicine Yoga is a practice that combines ‘yoga’ with ‘energy medicine’ to balance the body’s energy system. Students learn how to utilize simple movements such as tapping, tracing meridians, massaging acupressure points, and breath-work to move stuck energy, release pain, and change habit fields for better health. When these techniques are incorporated into a yoga class transformative physical, mental, emotional, and energetic healing begins.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that is known for activating the medicine within to cultivate better health. It teaches us how to listen to our body, remain in the present moment and choose health over dis-ease.

How do I prepare for an online class?
- Students should consult with their health professional before starting any new exercise regime.
- Follow the instructions for setting up a zoom account.
- Clear a safe space to practice without obstacles and distractions. (It is recommended to secure pets in a separate space to avoid tripping over them.)
- Arrive a few minutes early for class to set up your cell phone, laptop, or ipad so you can easily view the instructor on ‘speaker view’. (The larger screens are easier to view. Some students connect their device to the television set to view with a big screen.)
What do I wear?
No special clothing is required although it is best to wear loose, comfortable clothes for ease of movement.
Practicing with bare feet allows us to connect with the Earth and feel our energy better. However, students can wear shoes and socks If that is more comfortable for them. If socks are worn, the use of a yoga mat is recommended to avoid slipping. Soft, supportive shoes are preferred to allow freedom of movement.
Is this class for all levels?
Yes! EMYoga/Qigong is a practice for all ages, backgrounds, genders, and abilities.
What if I have injuries or illness?
EMYoga/Qigong can be practiced by EVERY body, including those with injuries and chronic health conditions. Students are encouraged to stay in their comfort zone. If something hurts do not do it or adjust as needed for your body. All classes can be practiced seated or standing. It is recommended to keep a supportive chair nearby if needed to practice safely. It is the students’ responsibility to honor their body and remain safe throughout all practices.
As a 61-year old overweight, out of shape, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and chronic Epstein Barr patient with two hip replacements, I was feeling like I had very little ability to succeed at yoga. With Terri’s compassionate and encouraging guidance and regular three times a week attendance, I am positively amazed at the progress I have made in strength, flexibility, confidence, and, yes, peacefulness of heart. My experience with Peaceful Heart Yoga has been life changing.– Laura G.
